If your 4X4 has seen better days, you may want to take it to a Range Rover rebuild specialist, enabling it to emerge with a new lease of life, ready to add another chapter to its on-road story.

Every Range Rover has a story, of course, but few are quite as extraordinary as that of a Range Rover that was originally built as a limo for the Brunei Royal family, but has ended up in several different countries and was once used to chauffeur Mike Tyson.

As Motorious reports, the vehicle, which was recently restored in the UK, was originally custom-built in 1994 as a gift from the Sultan of Brunei to his brother. Features included business-style armchairs, two TV sets and a privacy partition.

However, it only spent a few years in south-east Asia, before finding itself back in Britain and being used in 2000 to chauffeur Mike Tyson to a bout in Glasgow, where it took him just 38 seconds to defeat opponent Lou Savarese, accidentally striking the referee as he tried to stop the fight.

After actual royalty followed by boxing royalty, the vehicle then settled for what may have been a quiet retreat into obscurity as it was exported to Denmark in 2008, only to be returned to Britain before its refit.

The vehicle may well have needed a refit because it would have been no easy feat maintaining a limo built for such extreme luxury. However, other Range Rovers might need a rebuild for very different reasons, such as a major accident.

An example of this could be the £150,000 Range Rover that found a rather less favourable connection with the rich and famous when it crashed through the wall adjacent to David and Victoria Beckham’s mansion in the Cotswolds.

The driver will face his own reckoning after being arrested over the incident, but it is safe to say the vehicle itself will need more than a few repairs. Range Rovers are very tough, but as a witness told the Sun, the vehicle had to have been going at a “a hell of a pace” to knock down the stone wall as it did.
