The possibilities for anyone who wants to get specialist help to rebuild a Range Rover are more extensive than you may imagine. Some people will look to restore it to its former glory, but others will want to do something a bit more imaginative.

Restomodding is the trend by which an old vehicle is not just repaired but also upgraded with some new features, often with a different twist. This is about a bit more than just adding go-faster stripes or a wrap.

Wallpaper.com reported on one such case, quite literally an Italian job. Vinile, which, like Ferrari, is based in Maranello, revealed its Range Rover Classic Restomod at Milan Design Week, with some distinctly Latin elements.

The green metallic exterior may be familiar enough, but there is a shiny black roof and, on the inside, the traditional minimalist British approach has been replaced by fancy leather coverings (including no less than 45 square metres of leather) and white burl wood finishes.

On the outside, there are no more panel gaps and seams, while LED lighting and new sideskirts are in place, as well as a more glossy black look.

Although there has been a slight increase in power from 167 HP to 200 HP, the real change is in the aesthetics. Vinile has produced a limited edition of 15 Restomod Range Rovers in this style.

The company has said it may produce more Range Rover Restomod models in another style in the future, as well as taking this design approach to projects outside the car industry.

Your own priorities may be a little different from this, of course. You may have less focus on aesthetics and more on increasing the engine power, for example. You certainly don’t have to copy this particular Italian job.Indeed, you might, to paraphrase Michael Caine, only want to replace the doors.
